Established in 1926 in Farmington, New Mexico, by E.P. and L.P. Woods, the agency was formed to provide a place for Indian traders to purchase insurance. In 1951, their nephew, Gordon Woods, joined the agency along with Herb Dickinson. In 1985 the agency was sold to R.L. "Bunky" Owen, who in 1994 purchased the Culpepper Agency and merged it with Woods Insurance Service.

In 2003 Lyle Love Jr. joined the agency. Since that time, Woods Insurance Service has grown to be one of the largest agencies in the region with offices in Farmington NM, Hobbs NM, Cortez CO and our newest location, Weatherford, OK.

In 2018 Bunky passed from cancer and left his legacy to Lyle. Today they are proud to serve all of your insurance needs whether it be personal, commercial, or health insurance and they strive to improve their services in whatever way they can by employing the latest information technology to help their clients manage risk, track claims, and meet employee benefit goals.
